Wir haben den Abend in der wunderschön eingerichteten Taverne in vollen Zügen genossen. Auch das Essen war absolut köstlich. Die Gastfreundlichkeit und Aufmerksamkeit der Mitarbeiter ist besonders hervorzuheben. So gab es eine Vorspeise, leckeren Nachtisch und köstlichen Raki auf Kosten des Hauses. Absolute Empfehlung, gerne wieder, wenn wir hoffentlich mal wieder auf Kreta sind.

First class traditional Greek Food, service could not be any better and great value for money.
Great choice on the menu. Vegetarian dishes not an afterthought, had a great pasta dish. Great atmosphere and friendly staff.
Worth going to their other restaurant too- Oliver's Steakhouse.
We travelled half an hour to visit thr restaurant and was disappointed! Everything from the greeting food to entertainment was fantastic! The staff were friendly and professional at all times and couldn't do enough. We would 100% recommend anyone to have an evening there especially on the greek night!

We visited Amelia twice during our stay in Sissi, and it quickly became one of our favourite places to eat! I had the kleftiko, which was tender and full of flavour, while my husband and son enjoyed the mixed grill and meatballs – everything was delicious and perfectly cooked.
All the staff were amazing – so welcoming, friendly, and made us feel right at home. A lovely traditional Greek taverna with fantastic food and wonderful hospitality. We can’t wait to return!

We were advised to go to this family run restaurant by another hotel guest. The food was nice but I found the lamb kleftiko a bit fatty. The service was very good and the complimentary desserts very thoughtful. We enjoyed the honey & cinnamon raki. I would certainly come again.

Had the most fantastic night, it was their weekly Greek night & the food & entertainment were just incredible. Been going to Crete for over 40 years & without a doubt, one of the best Greek nights we've experienced. Hope to be there again next year, thank you all !
We went back to this Restaurant several times and we're never disappointed. The staff made us welcome from the moment we approached. The service was excellent. As well as our very competitively priced food and drinks we were given free: a bottle of water, bread with dips as an appetizer, cake with ice cream as a dessert and a bottle of the local firewater, Rakomelo.

Had a great evening eating at Amelia’s Taverna in Sissi. It was the first time we had visited Sissi. We had read excellent reviews and the restaurant didn’t disappoint. Really friendly and hospitable staff, amazing Greek food and good value. Would thoroughly recommend. We have booked to come back to Sissi in 2026 and will definitely be making a return visit to Amelia’s for another great evening!!.

Best restaurant in Sissi by far, Lawrence and his staff go above and beyond for their customers to have the best experience. Food is superb, service on point and with a smile cannot fault this wonderful place. I recommend you book as it is always full with people waiting for a table, also you get a lovely visit from Lawrence’s little dog Honor who happily roams around sharing the love.

We’ve been visiting Taverna Amelia for several years now and have never had a bad meal. The food is excellent and the friendly welcome from the staff, who never forget a face, always makes it our taverna of choice when we’re in the Sisi area. Highly recommended.

Wir waren 2 mal in der Taverne Amelia in Sissi gewesen. Wir haben uns sehr herzlich willkommen gefühlt. Das Essen war sehr gut, vor allem die gegrillten Auberginen und Calamari haben uns besonders gut geschmeckt. Besonders hervorzuheben ist, dass gleich zu Beginn Wir eine Flasche Wasser auf das Haus bekommen haben. Ebenso wurde uns durch den Senior ein selbst gebrannter Raki mit Zimtgeschmack sowie ein keines jedoch sehr leckeres Dessert auf das Haus gegeben. Die Gerichte die wir bekommen haben waren durchweg sehr sehr lecker. Wir werden auf jeden Fall wieder kommen im nächsten Jahr.
We booked in Amelia Taverna for the Greek night last Thursday…. What a fantastic evening we had!! It’s such a gorgeous setting. The staff couldn’t do enough for you. Such a fun and friendly night!! The kids loved it. Food was delicious!! It was my birthday and they brought me a cake with sparklers.. so nice!! Thank you for such a wonderful evening. Definitely the best night of our hols 😊

Very good vibe and a beautiful restaurant
We came here on a Thursday for their Greek night and didn’t want to leave !! We had such an amazing time dancing, eating and enjoying the music. The whole family helps put it truly feels like my big fat Greek wedding !

Wij waren op vakantie in vasia retreat Kreta. We zijn tot tweemaal toe in een week tijd hier komen eten. Een familie restaurant met het hart op de juiste plaats. Het eten, super lekker! De kwaliteit, heerlijk! De vriendelijkheid daar kunnen we geen ster op geven. ZO LIEF! De baas Laurent is de beste. Onze verloving heel mooi gevierd en een gratis fles Prosecco gekregen. Van het huis ook nog een fles water, een voorgerecht en een desert. En de zelfgemaakte raki was top!

I booked this restaurant based on the amazing reviews in advance of our holiday and it did not disappoint Fabulously welcoming. Staff all super friendly, smiley and go over an above to make sure you are happy with the food and service. We went to the Greek night for the full experience, which was just brilliant. Decor is delightful and clean and classy. Highly recommend. for this beautiful little village.

We went to the Greek night on Thursday, for which booking is essential.
The restaurant was very busy and turning people away.
However , we were not pressured and stayed at our table enjoying the entertainment.
The highlight was the children of the staff dancing to the music.
You may wait for drinks and service when the restaurant is so busy, but sit back and enjoy as there is no better place to be.

The welcome and service from all staff at Amelia’s is like returning to your family. Nothing is too much trouble and everybody is attentive. The food is outstanding with specials each night. We enjoyed it so much that we reserved a table for the following night before we’d received our starters!! So glad we did as the second night was Greek entertainment night which was excellent - high quality musicians and vocalist. The food was equally excellent and we loved both nights. This will be our go to in Sissi next time we return.

We went for my partners 60th Birthday, the food was lovely and they made my partners night special by bringing out a cake with wonderful sparking candles on it. Highly recommend the restaurant, will be going again before we fly back to the UK.

We ate at Taverna Amelia on our final night in Sissi. It's quite a big, noisy place. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed our complementary nibbles, then delicious chef's meatballs and halloumi to start. My main was lamb kleftiko which was incredible! It was so tender and succulent, and the veg was also very tasty. It came with a side salad which I didn't think was needed. My husband had grilled octopus which was delicious and tender. After eaten disappointing, rough octopus at two other places in town during the week, he finally got the dish he was after! We were considering whether to order a dessert to share when we were presented with complementary cake and ice cream. Service was a bit hap hazard at times as they were so busy, but the staff were so genial we didn't mind. A bit pricier than some other places but the food was excellent quality. The music and banter can be a bit loud at times but thankfully we were.in the mood to enjoy this. I would not have appreciated it on a night when we were very tired after an all day excursion. Overall, a very enjoyable evening and one of the best meals we had all week.

Attended for the Greek night, I had booked well in advance on e restaurante, but they struggled to find my booking, and I think because of this , we were sat toward the back of the restaurant, away from the musicians and dancing, so I was a bit disappointed by this, especially as I had been organised and booked before we even arrived in Crete. The food, entertainment and friendly service made up for it! WE

IMy family and I dined here on a Monday evening, and it was a great experience. The staff greeted us with smiles, and the bright, vibrant theme was inviting. There was live Greek music, plate smashing, table dancing, serviettes flying through the air. The staff were energetic and welcoming, making the atmosphere amazing. The food was delicious, and the combination of music and entertainment was outstanding. This restaurant offers a unique and enjoyable dining experience, especially on a Monday night.

Wir waren mehr als begeistert. Essen war sehr lecker. Service war freundlich, höflich und etwas Entertainment gab es auch. Zum Anfang gab es nen Gruß aus der Küche und weil das noch nicht gereicht hat, hatten wir zum Schluss nochmal ne Nachspeise aufs Haus bekommen. Können diese Lokalität nur empfehlen. We were a table of ten, with ages spanning three generations. There was something on the menu to please everyone. Ii had a slow cooked spicy pork dish which was stunning in both quality and quantity! We were made to feel both welcomed and valued. The service was fantastic. We all had a lovely evening.
We ate here twice during our stay in Crete and both times the staff we're so friendly and welcoming. The food was so good!! On our second visit we had a selection of appetisers tapas style, every dish was tasty and hot (can't be doing with luke warm food). My personal favourites were the Saganaki and mushrooms al a creme. Would definitely go back if we visit Crete again. Thank you Taverna Amelia.

The food was very good, typical greek dishes, for me were the portions to big, but I'm sure that other people would appreciate it. The dessert was offered by them.

We walked past Taverna Amelia on one of our first nights, the atmosphere looked very good. When we booked our table it was easily done online, the food was perfect and well cooked and the staff were very friendly, entertaining the customers with some traditional dancing (encouraging people to join in) . Next time I'm in the area, will definitely be back ( probably a couple of times next) Price was so reasonable as well

Every meal turns into a great party especially on live music nights. Hospitality at it's best. As a guest you become a friend of the family. Highly recommended!!

On our return, the food and service were again excellent, however the absolute extra was (what seemed like impromptu) the Greek dancing from the staff, the plate smashing and general entertainment! Absolutely brilliant! 👏🏻👏🏻

I booked a table last minute and wow what a great choice ! The food was delicious the service was fantastic , they were very attentive nothing was too much trouble a lovely family run restaurant . Lawrence the owner was a lovely guy who told me he’s spends his winter in Uk with his wife , his uncle was hilarious and led a dance of Greek moves around the restaurant which was great fun ! Really this place you must visit the quality of food was outstanding and the bill was very reasonable in fact it was too cheap for what we had ! A gem of a place
From the moment you walk in, you get that relaxed Greek feeling and great service. You get free bottled water for the table and once drinks are ordered they bring out free bread and dips. The starters and mains that we ordered were excellent quality and whilst eating you get treated to Greek dancing and plate smashing, which adds to the ambience of the evening. We didn't go for a dessert as following mains you also get free cake and honey raki with a hint of cinnamon. Overall a really enjoyable family evening, enjoying the Greek way of life.
