Description
Makelos Taverna restaurant is located in the enchanting village of Pitios (25 km from the capital city in a northerly direction) under the largest plane tree of the island, about 800 years old, with its incomparable history and abundant glories. In a village with a rich pastoral tradition, the cuisine of "Makelos" is understandably influenced by it. Goat in all its forms, braised in the pot, in the oven or selected grilled ribs are the main choices of its visitors. No one leaves Makelos without tasting its famous handmade macaroni, handmade by the shop's spaghetti maker, who continues a long tradition of the region. Its varieties of local cheeses, copanisti, malathrites and liver are a unique accompaniment to the local souma or a selection of local red wine or the extensive labeled wine list.
In the end, indulge in the owner's telling of the local stories or, better yet, follow the tour that takes place at Pitios, getting to know a settlement of Chios up close and personal, kept as if in the freezer of historical memory. Because in "Makelo" the Pitios itself is served ... on a plate!

Ο τεράστιος πλάτανος που δεσπόζει στο κέντρο της αυλής τραβάει αμέσως την προσοχή και εντυπωσιάζει με το μέγεθός του. Το φαγητό πολύ καλό αν και ίσως με λίγο τσιμπημένες τιμές σε κάποιες επιλογές. Οι άνθρωποι πολύ ευγενικοί και εξυπηρετικοί και με γρήγορο σέρβις. Βέβαια για να είμαι ακριβής την ώρα που πήγαμε νωρίς το απόγευμα ήταν ήσυχα και όχι κατάσταση αιχμής. Στο θέμα της εξυπηρέτησης με εντυπωσίασε το ενδιαφέρον ακόμα και στην ερώτηση που κάναμε για το που θα μπορούσαμε να βρουμε μέλι απ΄ευθείας από ντόπιο παραγωγό και αμέσως τηλεφώνησαν σε έναν γνωστό τους ο οποίος ήρθε σε λίγη ώρα από την ταβέρνα και μας έφερε το δικό του υπερφρεσκότατο μελι! Σε γενικές γραμμές είναι μια ταβέρνα που αξίζει να επισκεφθεί κανείς!
