Tucked away in the heart of Rethymno’s old town, this restaurant is more than just a place to eat—it’s an experience that blends history, hospitality, and exceptional cuisine. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel genuinely welcome, greeting us with warmth and attentiveness that carried throughout the evening.
The setting is truly special. Inside, the space is full of character, with architectural details that whisper stories of centuries past. Outside, the atmosphere is equally enchanting, inviting you to linger over a glass of wine and soak in the charm of the old town. One of the highlights was learning about the building’s fascinating history—the team even showed us the original wells, still preserved from hundreds of years ago. It added a wonderful depth to the whole dining experience.
The food was superb, beautifully presented and full of flavor, clearly prepared with care and respect for local ingredients. To elevate the evening even further, the sommelier guided us through the wine list with impressive knowledge, suggesting pairings that matched each dish perfectly. Her passion for Cretan wines and beyond really shone through, making it feel like a personalized journey rather than just a meal.
The combination of ambience, history, and impeccable service made this one of the most memorable dining experiences we’ve had in Crete. If you’re looking for more than just dinner—something atmospheric, welcoming, and delicious—this is a must-visit in Rethymno old town.

With a wonderful 2 week extensive visit all over Crete, of all restaurants in Rethymno, Chania and Heraklion, Veneto earns first place.
Excellent atmosphere, comfortable seating and not crowded table arrangement Veneto was a great place to talk and observe the street activity from a close but at the same time comfortable distance.

Food is excellent traditional Cretan cuisine on the menu which is very tastefully presented . Great ambience and excellent hospitality . Well worth our visit 😊😊
Un restaurante muy acogedor y agradable
Βρήκα αυτό το εστιατόρια για τα γενέθλια του συντρόφου μου. Γενικά αγαπώ όταν τα εστιατόρια προσφέρουν μια ζεστή αύρα συνδιάζοντας Ιταλικό χαρακτήρα με νότες από παλιό κτήριο της εποχής. Το προσωπικό πολύ εξυπηρετικό, φιλικό και ευγενικό και και τα φαγητά πεντανόστιμα! Ειδικα το αρνί τυλιγμένο σε αμπελόφυλλο, που πήραμε. Υπάρχει ένα κελάρι 600 ετών όπου μπορούν να σας ξεναγίσουν και να δοκιμάστε από το κρασί τους στο τέλος ή πριν το γεύμα σας. Σίγουρα θα ξαναπάω.

An amazing experience overall. We loved it so much we dined there twice during our short stay in Rethymno. The staff was so nice, the setting was so beautiful and the food was delicious. We highly recommend it!
